The Anxiety Disorders Association of British Columbia (AnxietyBC™) is a non profit organization established in early spring of 1999 by a group of concerned individules, family members, and health professionals. We work to increase awareness about anxiety disorders, promote education, and increase access to evidence-based resources and treatments. In keeping with our mission, AnxietyBC™ led a ground-breaking effort towards describing a comprehensive strategy in the management of anxiety disorders - the Provincial Anxiety Disorders Strategy in the fall 2001. We are a member of HeretoHelp, a project of the BC Partners for Mental Health and Addictions Information and one of seven leading mental health and addictions non-profit agencies in British Columbia.
The Royal Society is a Fellowship of many of the world's most eminent scientists and is the oldest scientific academy in continuous existence.
The very first ‘learned society’ meeting on 28 November 1660 followed a lecture at Gresham College by Christopher Wren. Joined by other leading polymaths including Robert Boyle and John Wilkins, the group soon received royal approval, and from 1663 it would be known as 'The Royal Society of London for Improving Natural Knowledge'.
The Royal Society's motto 'Nullius in verba' is taken to mean 'take nobody's word for it'. It is an expression of the determination of Fellows to withstand the domination of authority and to verify all statements by an appeal to facts determined by experiment.
