Software project management is the art and science of planning and leading software projects. It is a sub-discipline of project management in which software projects are planned, implemented, monitored and controlled.


The aim of this course is to provide attendees with an understanding of the principles, processes, and practices associated with the management of softwareÔÇÉintensive projects. No prior knowledge is assumed. The course is ideal for anyone who wants to gain a working knowledge of the application domain, project management, and software engineering. This course will also provide a base for experienced professionals who intend to pursue PMI’s PMP Certification. Also, it will provide a base for students who want to pursue research in project management related areas.

Course Objective

At the end of the course the student should

  • Be able to implement software project management
  • Be expected to understand the implications of various methods on establishing an effective team environment, managing expectations, project planning, managing requirements change, tracking progress, implementing good engineering practices.
  • Be expected to choose actual case studies from industry and further their research in this field.
