After the completion of this course the students will be able to:

  • Describe the historical background, and different viewpoints of contemporary and Islamic psychology.
  • Understand the major contributions of early Muslim psychologists.
  • Describe the different school of thoughts in psychology.
  • Explain the mechanism of biological components and its behavioral effects on human beings.
  • Describe the psychological phenomenon of cognitive, emotional and social influence on human behavior.
  • Identify the differences and importance of contemporary western psychology and the dilemma of Muslim psychology.
  • Identify the Ethical Issues and Islamic Bioethics (Muhasabah, Ijtimaiyyah, Mushawarah, Rahmah, Itqan and Al-akhirah)

Course Objectives

Course Objectives:

  • The main aim is to familiarize students with history, the Islamic history, contributions of early Muslim psychologists, main concepts, methods, and theoretical frameworks in psychology.
  • The course will help students appreciate the human nature and its related concepts, thereby will gain insight into human behavior and human relationships in general and in Islamic perspective.
