A thesis is a comprehensive academic document submitted to fulfill the requirements for a degree.

Course description

The primary intention of this undergraduate research is to lay out the range of approaches, methods, and techniques available for research by teachers of English as a foreign /second language, to give some indication of the underlying philosophies, to indicate what a rich menu of possibilities there is, to open up what, doing research, might actually mean and give some practical procedures for starting, generating research questions, looking at the history of issues, choosing methods and bringing the issues, and bringing the work to the attention of a wider academic community and the general public.

Course Objectives

On successfully writing a thesis the student will be able to:

  • Select problems from their familiar settings and conduct quantitative and qualitative research.
  • Write a thesis

Procedure

Students will write on the same topic on which they will already have developed a research proposal. Finally, after the completion of write-up, with the consultation of their supervisors, they have to defend their thesis in viva voce to be conducted by internal and external examiners.
