Learning Outcomes:
The focus of this course is to develop an insight of disability and multidisciplinary team approach in educational aspects in field of speech language pathology. At the end of this course student will be enable: • Integrate and relate basic concepts to clinical areas pertaining to speech and language and hearing assessment and therapeutic measures. • Understand basic rights of PWDs and special children and will be able to guide them in placement in educational and rehabilitative settings and at the same time to guide families and individuals by incorporating a multidisciplinary team approach. • Educational placement of special children: IEPs, Preschool training, Integration, Partial integration, Segregation: day school vs. residential school, Inclusive vs integrated school • Apply the skill to counsel the parents, teachers and peers regarding the education of the individuals with impairment in Pakistan.

• Overview of Speech language pathology as professionals in context of disability and MDT
• Introduction to Health, Disability and PWDs
• Magnitude, types, causes, prognosis, identification, needs and Attitudes and misconceptions of about Disability and PWDs
• Various Models of disability
• Disability in national and international perspective
• Concept and principles of multidisciplinary team approach-MDT
• Special educational settings in Pakistan
• Educational placement of special children: IEPs, Preschool training, Integration, Partial integration, Segregation: day school vs. residential school, Inclusive vs integrated school
• Criteria for recommending the various educational placements.

• Setting-up classrooms and the modifications for the individuals with disabilities like physical, intellectual, vision and hearing impairment on need basis for all special population, access, infrastructure, class and settings, strength, acoustics, lighting, and amplification and personal and group amplification devices
• Educational problems and counseling parents
• Educational problems of the individuals with impairments and the measures taken to overcome the problems in Pakistan
• Counseling the parents, teachers and peers regarding the education of the individuals with impairment in Pakistan
