The Pulmonary Pathology Society was established in 1995 under the leadership of Dr. William Travis then Chair of the Pulmonary and Mediastinal Pathology Division of the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology, Washington, D.C. in collaboration with several other internationally renowned lung pathologists including Drs. Thomas Colby of Scottsdale, Arizona, Samuel Hammar of Bremerton, Washington, Bruce Mackay of Houston, Texas, Helmut Popper of Graz, Austria, and Osamu Matsubara of Tokorozawa, Japan.

The American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) is the world’s largest professional membership organization for pathologists and laboratory professionals. Our mission is to provide excellence in education, certification and advocacy on behalf of patients, pathologists and laboratory professionals across the globe.

The Society of Toxicologic Pathology (STP) was founded in 1971 as a nonprofit association of pathologists and other scientists whose principal aim is the advancement of pathology as it pertains to changes elicited by pharmacological, chemical, or environmental agents, and factors that modify these responses.

The Society for Pediatric Pathology, founded in 1965, is an educational and scientific organization of physicians and scientists who share a common interest in this vital field. Over 700 members of the Society practice in more than 60 Children's Hospitals, Community Hospitals and University Hospitals of the United States, Canada and throughout the world.

The purpose of the International Society for Plant Pathology (ISPP) is to promote the worldwide development of plant pathology, and the dissemination of knowledge about plant diseases and plant health management.
