Lifestyle Medicine is a medical specialty that uses evidence-based, clinical care to address the causes of chronic diseases by promoting healthy lifestyle behaviors, including diet, exercise, sleep, stress management, and avoiding harmful substances.

Course Outline (LSM- 601)

Holistic science and its emergence in context to Biopsychosocial model; Alternative medical
system, Integrated medicine,
Conventional and evidence based medicine ; Biorhythms and its significance;
Transtheoretical model and role of Dietician as a life style Coach , Homeostasis or steady state;
Disease disruption, Hypothalamus and thermoregulation, role of skin as thermoregulation, Nocturnal sleep rhythm, Hunger and lack of sleep,
Melatonin and its circadian control, problems with sleep deprivation, life style diseases related to Cardiovascular diseases,
Alzheimer’s disease, Arteriosclerosis, Diabetes, Obesity and health risks, Ayurveda and digestive disorders,
Life style modifications including natural foods,
Favorite foods, Food timing and combination,
Food rotations and temperature,
Water and electrolytes intake, History taking,
General physical examination,
Diagnostic tool of LSM. Happiness Science.
Food addictions and food cravings management.

Course Description and Learning Outcomes

Course Description:
The Lifestyle Medicine I course introduces the principles and practices of lifestyle interventions for improving health and preventing disease. Students will explore the impact of lifestyle factors such as diet, physical activity, stress management, and sleep on overall well-being. The course emphasizes developing skills to implement and advocate for lifestyle changes that support longterm health and disease prevention.
Learning Outcomes:
To understand the concept of Lifestyle Medicine with reference to Conventional and Alternative medicine.
To analyze the concept of Biorhythms and its significance in maintaining Health status with reference to Endocrinal and Nervous biological control.
To familiarize with the life style diseases and how to reverse these diseases by adopting proper life style Modifications.
To analyze the Personalized life style Modification program, its core components and clinical practice and its role in disease prevention and reversal.

Lifestyle medicine-an evidence-based science, overview and rules, and its practice on
international and national level.
Synchronized Integrative Lifestyle Medicine Program (SWIPE); an introduction, core values and pillars. Current perspectives on Personalized Synchronized Lifestyle Modification Program at national and international level, aims and objectives, components, natural lifestyle factors and 6 rules
of SWIPE (SLP).
Entrainment, Components of SLP in clinical practice; history taking, general physical examination, diagnostic tools, lifestyle modifications.
CHOAS before harmony (Lifestyle diseases); Cancer, COPD, PCOs, Male Infertility,
Metabolic Syndrome and Dysbiosis.
Culinary medicine; introduction and practical applications. Western Lifestyle patterns; A brief overview.
