Course Description

This course provides students with knowledge and skills in clinical decision making and treatment planning within the field of speech-language pathology (SLP). The course emphasizes evidence-based practices and critical thinking in assessing and treating communication and swallowing disorders across the lifespan. Students will develop proficiency in conducting comprehensive assessments, analyzing assessment data, and formulating individualized treatment plans that address the unique needs of clients. The course integrates theoretical foundations with practical applications, preparing students to apply diagnostic principles and treatment strategies effectively.

  • Identifying and describing a range of standardized and non-standardized assessment tools and techniques used to evaluate speech, language, and communication disorders.
  •  Describing various evidence-based treatment approaches and interventions for addressing speech, language, and communication disorders across different populations and settings.
  •  Demonstrating the ability to integrate assessment findings into the development of effective, individualized treatment plans
  •  Interpret assessment data to identify speech, language and communication problems
