Introduction to Hadith and Sīrah UR-324 BS-O&O: Course Outline

The ahadith refers to different hadith collections, and different branches of Islam (Sunni, Shia, Ibadi) consult different collections of hadith, while the relatively small sect of Quranists reject the authority of any of the hadith collections altogether

Course Description

The course introduces salient features of Sunnah and Hadith along with their historical authenticity and applicability in our society. It also guides students in development of leadership qualities based on the Seerah.

Objectives

The general objectives of the course are:

  • To understand a holistic view of Sīrah and Hadith of the Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ)
  • To know about the authenticity, preservation and legal status of Hadith, Sunnah & Sīrah
  • To develop a balanced, moderate and socially responsive personality in the light of Hadith and Sīrah
  • How to make application of Sīrah and Hadith of the Prophet () in the personal, professional and social life.
