Definition of Information Assurance

Information Assurance (IA) refers to the practice of protecting and managing information systems by ensuring their confidentiality, integrity, availability, authenticity, and non-repudiation. It involves implementing policies, procedures, and technologies to safeguard data from unauthorized access, breaches, and disruptions. IA aims to maintain the trustworthiness of information throughout its lifecycle, from creation to disposal. It encompasses risk management, cybersecurity, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. Ultimately, IA ensures that critical information remains secure and operational in the face of evolving threats.
