AKU School of Nursing and MidwiferyPioneer in Nursing Education Since 1980
The Aga Khan University’s School of Nursing enjoys the privilege of being the first nursing school in Pakistan to be affiliated with a University. The School has grown tremendously over the past four decades, and after the launch of its midwifery programme in 2013, it was renamed the School of Nursing and Midwifery (SONAM).
With a reputation for delivering excellence in the areas of education, research, practice and administration, the School is committed to preparing the next generation of leaders in the field.
Internationally Benchmarked Programmes
SONAM aspires to become a regional centre of excellence in the field. Aligned with this vision, the School has
developed several strategic academic partnerships with leading nursing and midwifery schools in the USA, UK, Canada, China, Sweden, Portugal and Belgium. These partnerships allow the School to not only bring international expertise in developing innovative curricula and evidence-based pedagogies but, also offer higher education opportunities to its faculty members and students.
Renowned Faculty
The School has the honour of having the largest proportion of PhDs of any other nursing schools in Pakistan. Its faculty has a diverse educational and professional experience from Pakistan, USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Sweden and Italy. The work produced by our researchers is constantly published in multidisciplinary, high-impact journals.
