Learning Objectives

The students will learn the use of diagnostic instruments and their basic principles. The aim of the course is to train these students in using different diagnostic instruments used in managing eye ailments like, Visual Field analyzers, A Scan, Biometry, Corneal Topography, Specular Microscope, etc.

Medical Diagnostic Equipment

Medical diagnostic equipment is used for the medical diagnosis of the patients. Medical diagnosis is a method of determining the cause of an illness or injury. It is often based on signs and symptoms and may include examination of organisms and body fluids. However, to completely grasp medical diagnostic equipment, we must first comprehend medical diagnosis in its proper sense.

2. Equipment to assess Arc Perimeter
3. Humphrey automated perimeter
4. Goldman perimeter
5. Keratometer and its use
6. Corneal Topography
7. FFA
8. Biometry
9. Ultrasound

COURSE CONTENTS:
1. Fundus Photography
2. YAG Lasers
3. Baglioni striated glasses, worth four dot test
4. Prisms, Fresnel prisms
5. Hess screen
6. Tangent screen
7. Synoptophore
8. Electro-physiological tests – VER, ERG, EOG
