COURSE DESCRIPTION:
This course will enable postgraduate students to apply the basic knowledge of chemotherapy in the prevention and treatment of surgical and non-surgical infections. The students will understand and apply the concept of rational and irrational use of antibiotics in different infectious conditions. The students will also be able to differentiate between the treatment of chloroquine-sensitive and resistant malaria. The role of antineoplastic drugs in the treatment of different malignancies will also be evaluated by the students.
COURSE OBJECTIVE:
This course is designed to:
- Implement the basic knowledge of chemotherapy in the prevention of surgical and non-surgical infections.
- Rationalize the use of drugs in brucellosis, toxoplasmosis, and viral hepatitis.
- Discuss different strategies to treat drug resistant malaria.
- Evaluate the role of antineoplastics in the treatment of different types of malignancies.
