Child development involves the biological, psychological and emotional changes that occur in human beings between birth and the conclusion of adolescence. It is—particularly from birth to five years— a foundation for a prosperous and sustainable society

Course Objectives

Learning Outcome:

Students will be able to

 Understand major child development theories and models, including cognitive, socio-emotional, linguistic, andphysical development.

 Understand and apply key concepts of cognitive development, including Piaget’s stages, Vygotsky’s sociocultural theory, and information processing approaches.

 Evaluate and synthesize theoretical perspectives and research findings in child development.

 Analyze the stages and principles of physical and motor development from infancy through adolescence.

 Assess the influence of genetic, nutritional, and environmental factors on physical growth and motor skills.

 Proficiently apply and interpret tools for assessing physical growth and motor development.

 Evaluate the role of culture, social interaction, and education in cognitive development.
