Course Description

This course provides physiotherapists with a background about the assessment of neuro muscular condition and different treatment techniques or approaches used in adult neuro rehabilitation. It describes the different methods of assessing the different condition and the different treatment options in neurological condition. It also describes the complete management of adult stroke and other condition related to adult population. It contains the brief description and clinical and practical implementations of different treatment techniques.

Purpose

The purpose of Adult Neurological Rehabilitation is to improve the level of functioning for patients who have suffered stroke, brain injury, spinal cord injury or any other debilitating neurological disorder through a coordinated and integrated rehabilitation program.

Goals

Our goals are to assist the patient in regaining an optimal degree of functional movement and use of body, communication, cognitive and visual/perceptual function, and psychosocial skills. We work with the patient on restoring/retraining the weakness or deficit, compensating for it and/or adapting for it. This outpatient program should increase an individual's abilities to return to activities of daily living, school, leisure, community and work.
