This course provides a general introduction to Anthropology through the study of central concepts and key issues. These include culture, human cultural development, biological evolution, social organization, cultural theory, symbolic systems and culture change. The fundamentals of each of the four sub-disciplines of anthropology will be presented. We will attempt to answer the question “what does it mean to be human?” as a means of understanding the application and relevance of anthropological studies.
