Introduction to Management: Course outline (MGT-301)

Course description

This is an introductory course in management theory and practice.  Areas of study will include: the historic development of management thought; decision making; the management functions of planning, organizing, leading, and controlling; and the skills demanded of contemporary managers. An international context and consideration of ethical issues in managing people and resources will be emphasized throughout the study.   

Learning objectives

After the successful complication of this course students will be able to

  • Define what is Management
  • Understand manager’s role in the organizational development
  • Differentiate the four managerial functions of planning, organizing, leading and controlling
  • Explain the basic concepts of Organizational Behavior
  • Identify Individual and Groups dynamics
  • Classify the processes of organizations

To know the business practices and management concepts from the perspective of Islam
