Pediatric physical therapy (PPT501): Course Outline (PPT501)

Pediatrics is the branch of medicine dealing with the health and medical care of infants, children, and adolescents from birth up to the age of 18. The word “paediatrics” means “healer of children”; they are derived from two Greek words: (pais = child)

Course description

This course addresses both the medical and rehabilitation management of pediatric patients using an interdisciplinary approach. The etiology and clinical features of common diseases/ disorders observed in the pediatric population will be emphasized. Students will participate in case studies and an interdisciplinary evaluation project.

  • Discuss common Pediatric conditions relevant to Physical Therapy.
  • Evaluate the pediatric problems.
  • Formulate effective rehabilitation plans for pediatric patients.
