This course elaborates the importance of Professional-Ethics in the field of Media Science. The first part of the course acquaints the students about the ethical viewpoint of Islam with reference to the general code of conduct, which is observed by professionals. The second part develops students’ in-depth understanding of the specific professional activities that are carried out in performing their professional duties. This part also explains how professional issues are resolved being applying professional skills and abilities, keeping the standards prescribed by the Qur’an and Sunnah. The course enhances the ethical and moral standards of professional life and ensures how professional excellence can be achieved. It also provides a way of maintaining a balanced attitude between professional and personal codes of conduct and makes professionals as good citizens too. Overall, the course aims at giving deducing guidelines and instructions to the students for their professional morality from the Qur’anic teachings and Sunnah of the Prophet (ﷺ). The course identifies the ethical or moral issues emerging in the field of Media Science and suggests appropriate Islamic solutions, approaches and responsibilities of Media persons as well.
